Judo is a sport derived from Ju-Jitsu, which is the oldest of all Martial Arts. Along with all of its sportsmanship qualities, Judo is also a reknown form of self-defense. The Police and Military regularly employ Judo instruction as part of the rigors of their training.

Although Judo is commonly confused with Karate, it is really more closely related to modern college wrestling. There are no punches in kicks in judo. Judo is practiced on mats that involve throwing techniques, pins or “hold-downs.” As participants evolve with the sport, they are instructed in chokes and armbars, but they must be at least 13 and 17 years of age respectively.

Rank certification is registered with the United States Judo Association. Sensei Lopez’s Judo and Ju-Jitsu rank are both registered with the USJA.
